GE Aviation has a long history of delivering qualified high reliability electronic components to military/civil avionics and sea/land defence systems. A wide range of components have been supplied for applications such as communications, data gathering and signal processing systems, power devices and switches, nuclear event detectors, weapon control systems and sonar/acoustic systems.

Spares and replacements on long life product items (>20 years) are often required and component obsolescence is a major issue, particularly where high re-qualification costs are involved. GE Aviation has gained considerable experience in the replacement of obsolete components with identical form, fit and function devices which can avoid the costs of re-qualification.
